Joe: Can I eat the grapes now?

Irene (to Kid): Aren't they beautiful?

Kid: Yes, they are.

Irene: If he had eaten some off the top, it would spoil the picture. I just wanted you to see them first.

Kid: Well, thank you. They are beautiful. You can go ahead.

Joe rises laboriously from the rocking chair and moves as fast as possible to the table on which is the bowl of grapes and a pair of scissors. He hands Irene a huge long clump.

Joe: Mammy, could you cut off about half this clump? I can't see.

Irene: Sure.

She cuts for her nearly blind husband. Joe sits and eats half a clump in about 2.5 minutes.

Joe: Now how about cutting off the other half?

All laugh.
