There's no business like show
business. How long does it take to get from Scranton PA to
Amherst MA? It's supposed to be 4 hours. Well, we're on a
bus, and it looks like it's going to 8 hours. There's a
huge storm and it's going right with us. It's a full size
bus, made to carry a lot of runaways eventually to LA.
We have 7 of us on a bus for 60, so we can move around.
Nathan was in charge of movies, and he did a fine job. So
far we've watched "Hardware Wars," "Cannonball Run," and
"Mr. Death." So, it's just like being in a hotel. A long
thin shaky hotel with a few other guys and no bed. Outside
is a winter wonderland full of crashes and police cars.
We're going about 5 MPH now and there are 18-wheelers and
cops all around us. It's showbiz. Burt got us provisions,
M&MS, sodas, peanut butter and jelly, Oreos, sandwiches
it's the good life. Seven computer screens all glowing,
cell phones, and snacks. It's fine. Most traffic is off
the freeways, but you know, we must go through we must
bring entertainment to the people.
So what? Well, let me tell you this "Cannonball Run" is a
great movie. You hear me, great. And Farrah Faucett, oh my
goodness. And Dino, well, you know I love Dino. The only
bad news about this whole trip is that Nathan couldn't find
"Cannonball Run 2" and Cannonball Run 3" and that's really
our only hardship.
Last year at about this time, we were in a short bus over
100 clicks out of Beijing with our special commie bus being
whacked by a truck. Nathan was covered with glass and my
back was whacked in. That was worse than not having CB 2 &
3.
