Sly Stone Penn - 8/16/00

Oh goodness. I've been working a bit on Fi-Sci and I've been going to bed very late. I mean, I hit the hay at 3 or 4. Well, we had a corporate show for IBM. We were to hit the stage at 8am. I set my alarm for 5:30 am, so I'd have to time to check my mail, and shower and be awake for the show. I had to get a lot done, because I was flying to LA after the show and didn't want to have to rush. I was conscientious and went to bed a little after midnight. I couldn't fall asleep, so I read in the bathtub until 4.

Well, I guess I set the alarm but didn't turn it on. I was sleeping soundly at 7:15 when I heard Wiley knock on my bedroom door and say, "Hey Penn, want to do a show?" I jumped up, no shower, no nothing, and ran to the door. Wiley drove me fast to the MGM. I got there about 7:40. Yup, I hit the stage at 8am and did a fine show for IBM. I don't think anyone knew the difference.

But, it was awful for Teller and the crew. It was terrible for Krasher. There was a lot of worrying. In 26 years neither one of us has ever been late for a show. I guess that's still true. I hit the stage on time. But, I was late for 1/2 hour. I guess we've done that before a couple of times, but we've never really made people worry. Now, I have. I guess it's the beginning of the end. I'm just Sly Stone from here on in. Watch your wallets.

I had to synch my computers, pack, shower and get to the airport in a half hour. Glenn helped (not with the shower, but with the packing). I was running so fast, that I did my synch backwards and erased all my mail from the day. I've never done that before. It's the beginning of the end. I'm going to hell in a handbasket.
