Scaring Old People Penn - 8/14/03

Teller's parents have moved to Vegas. Teller got them out here and it's wonderful. They are in a great place with their own apartments and they're very well cared for. I visited them once with Teller, and this week, with Teller back in Philly dealing with their house, I decided to go over and visit them. I took them a little chocolate and we had a nice talk. They're still getting used to being out of Philly and in Vegas and they look fine and very well cared for. We talked a bit about Teller and Vegas and the place they were staying, but mostly they talk about how big I am. "You are a giant man." "Just such a big man." "We saw you walking up and said, `that giant looks as big as Penn.'"

We visited for about hour and it was time for them to go to lunch. There's a dining room where they eat with the other residents. I said, "Well, it's time for you to go to lunch." Mrs. Teller said, "Well, we'd like to invite you to stay for lunch, but you're so big, you'd scare the other old people." Mr. Teller chimed in, "You're too big for these old bats." It was really funny, but they were only a little kidding. They didn't just mean my size, I am huge, but they also meant the hair and the beard and the whole thing. They didn't want to be responsible for bringing Sasquasch to lunch. It was really funny. Man, I like them and it's great to see them close to their son. Teller is so good to them. It was fun to see them . . . . even if I am too big.
