Rio Penn - 1/06/01

Last night we opened at our third casino in Vegas. We started out at Bally's, went to the MGM, and now we're at the Rio. I was worried. I was worried because we were off the strip. It's a nicer theater than we've played in Vegas. Well, it's a theater. It's not tables. It's not a club; it's a real beautiful theater with seats facing the stage. It makes watching a show easier, and that makes doing the show easier. The stage is really big, the equipment is really good. Our crew did a great job at making our show look wonderful in there.

I was worried, but the Rio really worked with Glenn and Krasher and let them do a lot of advertising. I did morning radio and we did a lot of interviews. We're also on the baggage claim big TV and lots of cab tops.

So, people came to the show. The show is later, 10 pm, which is going to be a little different. The crowd was younger than the MGM or Bally's. They seemed to like us. The show went well.

We're doing a kind of "greatest hits" thing. It's a lot of the big stuff, and a lot of non-verbal stuff. It's not our most intellectual show, but, we'll try this here for a while. We're doing WaterTank and Fire 42, stuff like that.

So, I felt very clumsy on opening night, but that'll be better tonight. So far, it's going much better than expected. It's a beautiful theater and people are coming to see us.

A new home in Vegas.
