Radio Free Penn - 10/27/01

Yesterday was one of these radio gangbangs. All these stations were broadcasting live from the Aladdin Vegas, so Glenn took me over and we went desk to desk pimping our little show. All the stations wanted me on, we even did a station in the Country room, but mostly it was Top 40, and Rock/Alternative. I've been around so long and I'd done interviews with most of the jocks. I felt pretty sick, so it was a hard couple of hours, but we sold our stupid little show all over the country and got a lot of work done fast. It might save me some early mornings. The joke I opened with on every station was, "Well, we're broadcasting here from the unfortunately themed, Aladdin Hotel where you can forget the cares of the day, and the turmoil in the world and come to a hotel where there are murals all over the walls of guys in turbans and beards . . . . where are we, the Bin Laden Room?" I would then do a bit more on that, while the DJ said, "Well, the Aladdin is a wonderful hotel that's been great to us." And then I hit with "We're at the Rio and the worst you can think of about that is a bad version of Girl from Ipanema.

So, that was my basic jumping off point and then I'd just riff. It went well. I had to push pretty hard to get through the sickness, but I think I was funny. It was very nice that all the stations wanted me. That felt good. Jimmy came with us to see Mick Jagger, but Mick wasn't there. So, he watched me. I'm taller, funnier, younger, and American, anyway.

If you want another number to call John Edward and tell him how wrong what he's doing is, I got through on this one 631-574-6043.
