Because it was our "opening" night at the Rio I had some friends in town. We all went to lunch and had a good time at the MedCaf. I got a call from my assistant that Colin had had a 60' Genie Lift delivered to the house. He wanted to go up to above the height of the roof and see what the views would be if I were to build an addition to the Slammer. Well, we rushed right home and before Colin got there, Scotty and I were already driving this huge piece of machinery around. It says all over it not to run it if you don't know what you're doing and that to Scotty and me is just another way to write "fun." It took us a long time but we got it started and we drove it around like freaks and swung ourselves around in the bucket. We then took it up higher than the house and took pictures and made jokes. It was great.

Colin arrived and Scotty and I told him that the controls had stopped working and we were stuck up there and it was showtime soon. It was a great joke. Colin believed us and opened up the bottom part and tried to control it from there. Then he figured that maybe our controls WERE on and we were monkeying with him. So . . . he turned our controls off and we were stuck up there. We begged and apologized and he gave us control again. We came down and I went up again with Colin and we took the pictures and then everyone took turns driving it around and going up and down.

Here's my point. It cost 200 dollars for this big thing for 24 hours and it was delivered and picked up. Two hundred dollars. That means if a bunch of friends were going to go out to eat at a nice place, they could stay home, get pizza and rent some big machinery and come in cheaper and have more fun. I think the biggest fun is the chance of killing yourself in a really stupid way and getting the report of it passed around on the Internet. Oh, it was fun.

Maybe I'll have some people over and rent a bulldozer. How much fun would that be? Thanks to Colin, we have found new entertainment. With large machinery and honey badger documentaries on TiVo we have all we need. It's no longer a crust of bread, a jug of wine and thou, it's now honey badger footage, a Genie Lift and well, thou sure ain't going to miss it.
