Posing Gorilla Girl Penn - 10/09/01

I LOVE my job. I have a perfect job. It's just terrific. But, if I had to pick one thing about my job I hate, it's those stupid goddamn photo sessions. My Mom and Dad brought me up saying, "Who's looking at you?" I hate the hair and makeup. I hate people fussing over me and straightening my clothes. It makes me feel 8 years old and squirmy. I hate how much time is spent adjusting lighting that I can't tell the difference in. It's a lot of time spent on stuff that I don't care about that I know is important. I end up with gunk in my hair and I also end up sore from, "Tilt your head to the left a little, now head up and out, forehead down, eyes to me, but head away, move your hand a little." AHHHHH. The photographer was fast and good, but it's still a drag. I left my facial hair totally in the hands of the others. I had no vote. I ended up with my goatee trimmed seriously, the "soul patch" gone and everything dyed way black. So, that's the way the P&T pics will look for a while. It was pretty short and okay.

Now, on to what I really do. Teller and I are doing a new bit and it went in for the first time last night. It's a tough bit. Our crew was, as always, amazing. Just great work from everyone. It's a tough one in every department. We also got help from Johnny Thompson, Mac King, and Mike Close on the comedy and the magic. The Doctor did great music, and Chris, Teller's vibes teacher, gave Teller some great African drum licks. Yup, we've got music, African drums, a Theremin, helium, cigarettes, a Gorilla and Robbie wrestling me on stage.

We're changing a girl into a gorilla on stage. But, first we have to turn me into the girl. I have a wig. I have a slip. I have an attitude. This is a nutty bit.

So, we've been working on it forever. We finally said what the hell, and put it on stage last night. It seemed to go okay. It didn't kill, but I think the trick worked and it got a few laughs. It'll just get better. Man, those cigarettes and helium trash my voice. But, we got it in the show last night. No one got hurt. Everything worked. I hope it turns into a good bit.

Yeah, I dress up like a girl. You got a problem with that? Huh?
