Cool Site Awards - 4/28/00

I hosted the "Cool Site of the Year Awards" at Webster Hall in NYC. I had to not think about this gig, because when I did the first one, 5 years ago, Barry was there writing the script and putting it together, and I really miss him. Man, do I miss him, and it was hard to be running around working on the same gig with my buddy gone. It was sad. Krasher was there helping and he was great.

Mike Corso, who owns "Cool Site of the Day" was my boss on this and he was amazing. He had LOTS of food and drink and a band and quite a party. There was no place to sit down and the awards really didn't have a chance of getting the attention of the crowd, but he was very willing to just throw a party. So, it was an odd gig. I talked to people and posed for pictures for about 4 hours, but I was only on stage for a little over a half hour. They had planned an hour awards show, but he said to move it along, so I did it all in just over a half. I ended with some Fire Eating, and a big Yahoo cheese, Tiffany, lit the cigarette off my mouth. It took her two tries, which isn't bad for the first time. I like these people, but don't like drinking parties, so it balanced out to being okay. Man, I shook a lot of hands and posed for a lot of pictures. I was like a cardboard cut-out. I didn't do much, but man, I did it fast. I had people terrified to say more than "thank you" and I think that was good.

It went fine.
